National Lampoon’s European Vacations

While trying to read more about Europe I was reminded of the 1985 movie called the National Lampoon’s European vacation. It was originally titled the Vacation 2 in Europe.

I have never watched this move but watched this movie this weekend to see what they offer in terms of European vacations.

Here are the details of the movie

Direction – Amy Heckerling

Actors – Chevy Chase
Beverly D’Angelo
Dana Hill
Jason Lively

Famous Sequence – Pig in a poke sequence

The plot has Chase and D'Angelo play the married couple Clark and Ellen Griswold, living in suburban Chicago with two children, Rusty and Audrey and they win an all expense paid trip to Europe. They complete a whirlwind tour of Europe with all the usual antics and chaos during the vacation.

Here is the list famous places they visit in Europe are
London’s Tower Bridge
Lambeth Bridge Roundabout
Buckingham Palace
Heathrow International Airport
Palace of Westminster
Paris Left Bank
Eiffel Tower
Louvre Museum
Notre Dame de Paris cathedral
Rome’s Colosseum

The movie is a sequel to the famous 1983 movie National Lampoons vacation where the family visits Disneyland (called Walleyland in the movie)
After the 1985 movie there were other movies in this series
National Lampoons Christmas Vacations in 1989
Vegas vacation in 1997
And the National Lampoons Christmas vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure

So if you are planning a European vacations do not get disheartened by the misadventures but better planning will help make your trip memorable.
